Gray Bishop has been a Music Educator/Performer in the Wichita area since 1980. Recently retired, he has taught in the Wichita and Derby Public Schools for 43.5 years.
During that time he also served as the adjunct trumpet professor at Friends University for 16 years. As a performer, Mr. Bishop has been a member of the Wichita Symphony and Music Theatre of Wichita’s trumpet sections for 43 years. He has also been a member of numerous and varied musical groups, from big bands to brass quintets to free improvisation. Mr. Bishop currently serves as President of the Wichita Jazz Festival.
He is very excited to join the efforts of Music Youth Partnership to help young musicians develop their music skills and their connection to music.
Gray Bishop will represent Music Youth Partnership at Truesdell Middle School and South High School.
